Why Puzzles Get Deadlocked

Water-sort puzzles seem so intuitive that when a board becomes unsolvable, players often assume the level was randomly generated or flawed. But in Amrit Flow, every level has guaranteed valid solution paths.

Deadlocks happen because of very specific micro-decisions made 3 or 4 moves prior. Recognizing these traps before making a move will keep your solution chains flowing smoothly.

✕Mistake 1: Color Fragmentation

The Pitfall: Splitting the same color across 3 different partial vessels.

If you have 1 unit of cyan in Pot A, 1 unit in Pot B, and 2 units in Pot C, your board capacity is completely choked. Always consolidate matching colors together instead of sprinkling them across open pots.

✕Mistake 2: Squandering the Buffer Pot

The Pitfall: Pouring an isolated color into an empty pot just because "there's room."

Empty vessels are your only true lifeline. Once an empty vessel contains even a single layer, it can no longer act as a universal wildcard receiver. Treat your empty vessels like sacred gems: only fill them when it directly unlocks a win cascade.

✕Mistake 3: Tunnel Vision on One Color

The Pitfall: Obsessively trying to finish a single color (like purple) while completely ignoring that you are burying the key red liquid required to free two other pots.

Look across the whole board. Sometimes pausing on one color to free a secondary color opens up the exact space needed to finish both simultaneously.

How to Recover from a Deadlock

If all available vessels have different top colors and no empty pots remain, you are officially locked. Here is the exact recovery sequence:

1. Don't immediately restart: Tap Undo 2 or 3 times to step back to the moment you used your last empty pot.

2. Identify the fatal branch: Look at the move that consumed that empty pot. Was there an alternative color you could have transferred instead?

3. Use "Add Pot" wisely: If you find a truly fiendish high-tier puzzle, activating the Add Pot helper gives you a fresh universal vessel to navigate tricky multi-layered traps.
